Hamad bin Hamoud Al Hammad, member of the board of directors and head of the Contracting Committee at Asharqia Chamber, confirmed that the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs launched the pilot of the electronic platform for the classification system of the developed contractors. It will provide many services to contractors as it aimed at the whole to motivate and qualify them to undertake the implementation of projects professionally and with higher quality.
He added, "This technical transformation in the ministry's dealings with the contractors will facilitate our business and contribute to the development of the performance of the construction industry through the presence of contractors with a high level of performance in all grades of classification. It will also provide a professional working environment for the work of contractors and develop the system of classification of contractors, companies and engineering consulting offices, and the integration of the contractor that is not classified in the classification system."
He stated, "The platform enhances the performance of the ministerial and raise the proportion of transparency and sustainability practices and this is one of the most important goals of the vision of the Kingdom 2030."
This initiative included a comprehensive development of taxonomic areas and activities in line with global and local systems.
It also included the development of classifications and the introduction of the excellent grade to include major and sixth project contractors to allow small and medium enterprises and modern facilities to enter under the umbrella of the classification, as this helps to enrich and develop the performance and sustainability of the construction industry in the Kingdom.
Al-Hammad concluded by inviting contractors, companies and institutions to submit any proposals or observations to the Ministry through the platform in order to be studied before the final launch of the system before the end of the year 2018.
He thanked His Excellency the Minister for Municipal and Rural Affairs and the Ministry's employees for their efforts and the services they provide to facilitate the work.
